Then Moppet said ,” lets climb up the rockery and sit on the garden wall”. They turned the pinafores back to front and with a skip and a jump they hopped up on top of the garden wall.when their mother saw them she was displeased and said ” I’m expecting fine company and you are not fit to be seen.” And she sent them straight to bed. When the visitors arrived she asked them to sit. She said that Moppet, Mittens and Tom were in bed sick with the measles which was quite the contrary with all the nose and banging coming from upstairs. And as for the puddle ducks they lost the clothes in the pond when they went swimming and have never found them again.

The Tale of Mr Jeremy Fisher

Mr Jeremy Fisher

Mr Jeremy Fisher

Mr Jeremy Fisher is a toad who lives in a house near a pond. The story starts with Mr Jeremy Fisher deciding to go digging in the mud for some worms so that he can catch some minnow fish for his dinner. He was hoping to catch lots of fish so that he could invite his friends to join him for dinner.

Putting on his rain coat, Mr Jeremy Fisher headed out to find his boat where he kept it tied to a water plant in the middle of the pond.

Mr Jeremy Fisher was fishing for about an hour in the rain but he didn’t catch anything. He said to himself “I should like some lunch”. He settled back to enjoy his lunch of butterfly sandwiches while he waited for the rain to stop.

After lunch, Mr Jeremy Fisher pushed his boat out a little bit and resumed fishing. The float bobbed and Mr Jeremy Fisher cried out that he had caught a minnow., and he pulled sharply on his rod. Mr Jeremy Fisher was disappointed to find out that it wasn’t a minnow, but was a stickleback, covered with spines. As the stickleback jumped back into the water, other fish laughed at him.

While Mr Jeremy Fisher was sucking his fingers, a large trout came and caught him by the foot and dived down to the bottom of the pond. Luckily the trout didn’t like the taste of Mr Jeremy Fisher’s macintosh and spat him out. Mr Jeremy Fisher swam as fast as he could for the edge of the pond.

Mr Jeremy Fisher headed home as quickly as he could. His friends, Sir Isaac Newton the newt and Mr Alderman Ptolemy the tortoise came to dinner. Although they didn’t have any minnows, they enjoyed a nice dinner of roasted grasshoppers with lady-bird sauce.
